Peugeot 3008 hybrid

The Hybrid4 3008 Peugeot is offering the first diesel hybrid in the world. While other hybrid cars use gasoline engine, hybrid turbo diesel Peugeot combine units designed to power the front wheels with an electric motor driving the rear axle. The car is more fuel efficient than other hybrids and also offers four-wheel drive mode.

The diesel engine is connected to an electronically controlled gearbox, but also can function manually in sequential six-speed systems. The kinetic energy generated during deceleration is transformed into electrical energy that can recharge Nickel Metal Hydride battery. Hybrids offered by Peugeot to operate on both the drive-front only, rear drive only, or all wheel drive mode.

European sales will begin in the spring of 2011. In the U.S., however, for hybrid sales have fallen over the last few years. It seems that some buyers prefer a full-electric hybrid car.

Honda have focused on a small hybrid and more affordable. 2011 Honda CR-Z Hybrid and the Honda Fit Hybrid is expected in autumn 2010. CR-Z Hybrid was unveiled at the Tokyo Motor Show in 2008 and it will be a hybrid only with manual transmission.
